Here at Mary’s thatched cottages we are busy with maintenance work during this quieter time. Time for re-thatching two of the cottages, paint to be refreshed and a big tidy after the re-thatching.
Peter Brugge and his team did a fantastic job in some rather poor days of weather, the finish on the roof was perfect. There was a few days where I’m sure the last place the lads wanted to be was on the roof of a cottage, however they battled on and the end result is something they should be proud of. We are delighted .
Boy does those little pieces of thatch get everywhere!
At the same time, this point in the year is one of the busiest in terms of holiday cottage bookings. The Isle of Skye and holiday cottages appear to be as popular as ever. The biggest change in the past few years has been a move away from the traditional full weeks holiday booking to a short break. Some guests booking a cottage for a weekend and then on to the Western Isle for further exploring, others simply a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.
